A unifying symbol
for reuse is finally here

Reusable packaging systems are arriving around the world, and now there’s a symbol to unify them. The new reuse symbol offers a universal icon for the reuse movement.  It is intended to clearly identify reusable products and packaging and the infrastructure that helps circulate them.  The symbol differentiates reusables from recyclable and other single-use waste, enabling consumers to keep reusable items out of recycling, landfill and other waste streams — all while inspiring the shift towards an un-throwaway world.

Currently launching on reuse systems across the globe…

…with more coming soon

The above pins represent the reuse systems that have already incorporated or are actively working to incorporate the reuse symbol. Collectively they’re bringing the reuse symbol to every continent across the globe, except for Antartica! More information coming soon.

Don’t see your system on the map? Fill out this form to be added.

  • The symbol can be applied to reuse systems (reusable packaging, labels, and infrastructure) and promotional material that meet specific criteria. This ensures the symbol is only applied to systems that truly reuse. If you meet the criteria we invite you to incorporate it into your reuse systems — you can download the symbol, review the design guide, and deep dive into the usage criteria here.

  • It is important that the symbol is only used on products and packaging that are truly reused in practice or on parts of a system enabling reuse. The criteria have been developed to prevent the symbol from being used incorrectly, to avoid greenwash and false advertising claims, and to boost confidence in reusable packaging systems. • In 2025, the PR3 Global Standards Panel launched Rebrand Reuse, a global design initiative to set a standardized symbol for reusable packaging and the reuse movement. The initiative solicited symbol concepts from designers around the world, with over 225 entries from 29 countries. Using a rigorous evaluation process and consumer surveying, this symbol was selected by both a global jury of prominent designers, business leaders, and cultural influencers and PR3’s Standards Panel. The final symbol was designed by Epigrama Studios, a design collective from Colombia. It is now trademarked by PR3 and incorporated into the PR3 Labeling Standard.

  • In addition to the PR3 Global Standards Panel, the symbol was selected by a distinct jury panel of renowned industry leaders from the worlds of design, sustainability, and beyond.  Learn more about the jury panel.

  • The global reuse symbol was designed by Epigrama Studios. Epigrama, a design collective from Colombia, was founded with the purpose of building collective narratives rooted in diversity and social and environmental awareness.

“This is a symbol of responsibility. [To] reuse, restore, realign, repeat, remind, recognize. To give back to the world, to restore balance, to recover meaning, to remake our purpose as human kind.

We already know the destiny of a straight line on a circular planet… we know the destination is waste. So let’s put things back into place, back into function. Let's bend the line. Let's embrace the spiral. This is the time for resistance through care and love.”
